# AI credits & plans

> What consumes AI credits, and how plans, usage and limits work.

Railmail's assistant features run on **AI credits**. When credits run out, the assistant pauses until you top up. The rest of the app keeps working.

## What consumes credits

| Feature                               | Example                                             |
| ------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| Campaign **assistant chat** | Generating content, subject lines and preview text. |
| Automation **assistant flow builder** | *Generate flow (5 credits).* |
| **Assistant segment suggestions** | Proposing segments from activity. |
| **Assistant agents** chat | Testing and using the assistant. |
| **Assistant reports** | Generating and regenerating campaign reports. |

If you see *"AI credits depleted"*, top up or upgrade your plan to continue.

## Plans

Manage your plan under **Settings → Subscription**. Plans (Free, Standard, Pro) differ across limits and features such as:

* Emails per month and contacts
* Number of users and projects
* A/B testing and advanced analytics
* Custom branding (removing *Powered by Railmail*)
* API access, support level and SLA

Billing can be monthly or yearly (yearly is discounted). Checkout is handled through Paddle, and you can download **invoices** from the subscription page.

## Usage

The **Usage** view tracks your subscribers, emails sent, AI credits, projects and users against your plan limits, and warns you as you approach them.

<Warning>
  If a subscription becomes **restricted** (for example, past due), **email sending is disabled** until it's resolved. Other statuses include active, past due, cancelled and expired.
</Warning>
